Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The lyrics of the national anthem.
Old value:: None
Current:
Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people, dispenser of Malivia's destiny. Thy name rouses the hearts of Bhulkandra, Dendhadrash and Idhaghra, of the Washebar and Walkaunar and Hitam. It echoes in the winds of the Malivy Islands, mingles in the music of Auroria and Constantium and is chanted by the waves of the Malivian Sea. They pray for thy blessings and sing thy praise. The saving of all people waits in thy hand, thou dispenser of Malivia's destiny. Victory, victory, victory to thee. Day and night thy voice goes out from province to province, Calling the Gerajans, Daenists, Akalis and Wains round thy throne and the Hosians, Ahmadis and Rasezanians. The northern mainland and the southern Islands join hands in their prayer to thee, and the garland of love is woven. Thou bringest the hearts of all people into the harmony of one life, thou dispenser of Malivia's destiny. Victory, victory, victory to thee. |
Proposed:
Ah, ah, We came from land that sunk below, From the watery world where the dolphins go. The hammer of the storm drove our ships to our new lands, To swim to the beach, singing and cry: Malivia, I am coming! On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the eastern shore. Ah, ah, We came from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. How soft our fields so green, can whisper tales of salt, Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are our own overlords. On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the eastern shore. So now we’d better stop and rebuild all your ruins, For peace and trust will win the day despite of everything. |

Message | we support keeping "the gods" in the anthem becuase they refer to the ancient gods, which are not currently worshipped but considered more a part of lore and mysticism. but we would consider changing it to "the hammer of THE STORM drove our ships to our new lands" which is still appropriate. as for making the anthem a musical piece only, it is perfectly alright if the levp wants to just hum along to the music. |

Message | We agree. Also, the main reason it failed was the LibCom Abstaining from the vote. |

Message | ah yeah, was the Libcom absent from the assembly during the entire 8 months or objected to the anthem in some way? If the libcom objects please say so, we would like to create an anthem we would all like to sing or humm |

Message | done, changed the lyrics from "the gods" to "the storm" which fits with the imagery perfectly well. as a compromise, we would like to keep the war reference (something levp pointed out as something that ought to be removed) becuase it fits with the imagery of the storm and the calming of the tides fits well with the war imagery too. but if levp has a better idea, that would be great and we could use that instead. |

Message | Our better idea has already been stated: no words. |

Message | would the levp like to compose the music, perhaps we could publish the music as our anthem? |

Message | also, i think the general concensus is that we want some words in our anthem, so if you would be willing to take the step towards that, maybe we could meet in the middle about the words to the song. |

Message | Whats so great about no words? |

Message | exactly, some of the best anthems have words. ooc: we think the levp is a secret supporter of the impending dolphin invasion and so is paving the way for a national anthem with only clicks and squeeks. |

Message | Okay, this seems innocuous enough. We see no reason to oppose, although we do like the sound of squeaks and clicks. |
