Message | Unfortunately, we cannot support this bill. We cannot justify supporting the restriction of medicinal cannabis to those who request it simply because some of their peers do not wish this drug used to treat them. Furthermore, it is exactly that; a drug, like paracetamol or propanalol, and should be available for legitimate medicinal use. If people don't want to use it, that is their choice, but we should not deny suffering patients the treatment they desire. All this would achieve would be to force those in pain (such as multiple sclerosis sufferers) onto the black market. |

Message | I 100% agree with you, comrade. The USM would vote no to this proposal. |

Message | I understand your point but the fact is that this is the second time the Hobrazian people have asked for this change. Both of the time it was a majority of people who wished for it and the actual percentage has risen by 1.47%. |

Message | Though I can understand the wish of the United Blobs to support the general will of the people, we find that we are placed in a difficult situation. As we have stated in previous bills (most recently the Gambling Bills I believe) having differing laws in differing Constituencies merely adds to confusion within the system, especially once our National Health system is introduced. Though usually we would move to provide the people with their wishes, we feel it would be inappropriate to begin introducing such legislation as sufferers of pain must be provided with maximum choice at all times, as well as allowing Doctors to prescribe drugs without fear of a backlash from Local Authorities. |

Message | By having cannabis legalised for medicinal purposes, this ensures that the substance is clean and more effective for sufferers which require the drug. It also takes a bite out of crime: drugs gangs which frequently pedal the drug will lose out on money, in turn minimalising any gang culture which exists. We will stand by the Social Democratic Liberals on this issue. |

Message | @USM - You believe the best way to remove crime is to reduce the number of things that are crimes. @WSS - We understand your views but it is hard to decide whether to follow what the public want or what makes more logistical sense. @SDLP - The fact is the "some of their peers" are actually a majority in Hobrazia. Only 21% of the population actually agree with the current state of affairs and therefore the remaining 79% would prefer the proposed system to the current one. I wonder if the EUP has anything to say on this matter as they are the largest party. Until then this will remain in debate. |

Message | "You believe the best way to remove crime is to reduce the number of things that are crimes." I think in this situation that is unfair. If cannabis can be obtained legally by those requiring it, that measn the drug gangs lose out on what might have been a former customer. Less profits, mean the possibility of less gangs. |

Message | In this case, however, it would have no effect on the recreational market and the dealers can still get their money from there. |
Date | 19:16:58, June 29, 2005 CET | From | Right Party | To | Debating the Cannabis Act |
Message | We find ourselves in the opposition to the majority of public opinion once again. Not only we support the current legislation but we are in favor of legalization of recreational drugs, thus putting the drug dealers/gangs out of business. |
Date | 23:31:48, June 29, 2005 CET | From | Social Democratic Liberal Party | To | Debating the Cannabis Act |
Message | @RP: We would also be sympathetic to the legalisation of recreational cannabis use, however under current legislation it would be restricted to cookies, muffins, flapjacks and other confections, as smoking is banned throughout the land. |

Message | I am also in favor of drug legalization and cannot support any law that may criminalize a user and at the same time will open a blackmarket drug culture. |
