Bill: Prisoner Labour

Voting deadline: May 2076

As it stands prisoners are forced into chain-gangs if they're able to work.
This bill will change this to the effect that prisoners can earn the right to do voluntary work for a small wage based on behaviour, to get them reintroduced into the working world.

Messagethey use that system in the Netherlands but that is so that they can pay for some entertainment and beceause they have something to do in the mean while. A small wage is really not enough to get them back in the real world we have a social safety net for that and rehabilation. If they would just have to work they would also actually contribute something to society while they had not before (since they are criminals).

MessageThat's what they do in the netherlands, they have like no punishment and the rehabilitation rate is higher than the US.

MessageThey do that somewhat in Canada also. They offer help instead of punishment.

MessageI just don't like the idea of chain gangs, I think that prisoners should get back into working for money and contributing to society for money rather than just be forced to work while living in tents and shit.. It's really rugged.

MessageWe are opposed to this bill, which seems to see prison as employment rather than rehabilitation.

MessageA small wage, say three dollars an hour? Isolation from all your family and freinds for years is enough punishment. They shouldn't have to leave prison broke (Which could lead them BACK into crime..)

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context.
