Bill: Overriding of Chancellor's Order
Details
Submitted by[?]: Absolutist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2322
Description[?]:
As the Chancellor has ordered a halt to the progress of a bill that will soon be passed by the Assembly, I hereby present this bill to override the Chancellor. The Chancellor wishes to stop the execution of terrorists, and traitors. As Justice Minister, I ordered the Police to block otuside interference, and the executions shall take place as soon as the bill is passed. However, I hereby order that the executions be halted until this bill is passed. This bill calls for the immediate overruling of the following command of the Chancellor: "In light of the passage of the Death Penalty Allowance Act, Chancellor Moore, as head of the executive, has ordered a moratorium on its implementation for at least three years or until the moratorium is lifted, during which time a nonpartisan commission will determine how best to incorporate this policy into extant juridical norms." The Assembly has spoken, let the old regime stall no more! |

Message | The Chancellor is acting within her constitutional authority to ensure that the implementation of this new policy is a smooth one. As the head of the executive branch, this responsibility rests on the chancellor's office, not on the National Assembly. The National Assembly has indeed spoken, and the Chancellor respects the decision that has been made even if she does disagree with it. However, Ikradon has never in its history implemented capital punishment, so it behooves us to be careful and prudent as we make such a sweeping change to our penal system. Surely the United Coalition is not so vengeful and bloodthirsty that it will not wait to make sure that true justice is observed in the fullest sense possible. |

Message | Furthermore, by voting "nay" on the vote of no confidence in Chancellor Moore, your party affirmed its support of her work as Chancellor. She was elected directly by the people of Ikradon, while the United Coalition Minister of Justice is as far from a democratically elected official as is possible, seeing as he represents a party that turned against the voters who brought it to power and chose instead to ride the tide of fascism. |
Date | 11:30:38, November 30, 2006 CET | From | New Democratic Party | To | Debating the Overriding of Chancellor's Order |
Message | The NDP applauds the Black Wolf party's gracious show of respect for the office of our directly-elected Chancellor. |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
