Bill: Independant Thought Number 1

Details

Submitted by[?]: Likaton Coalition of the Willing

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2333

Description[?]:

Think.

On consideration, we feel that the following hold true:

That having to endure a test to prove citzenship is wrong, and that it is a birthright, not a qualification.

That Political Independance does not exist, and that those who are up front about their political position are if not more honest, then at least more reliable in close call situations.

That retirement is a reward, and should allow time for pleasure, and not be the point at which you can work no more.

MessageWe realized after some thought that you are correct. Immigrants should be the only ones who need to take a test, and the current system does not spell that out. There is such an option in who can claim to be a "national," and that is what we would propose as an alternative if this failed to pass.

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature.

Random quote: "Democracy is in peril." - Ralph Nader (referring to turnout in the 1996 US presidential election)
