Bill: International Refugee Acceptance
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kundrati Revolutionary Movement
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2037
Description[?]:
Refugees should be allowed to come to the Kundrati Union, without having to prove particularly exceptional circumstances. The status of refugee by itself obligates us to help those who have lived through unfortunate circumstances and terrible hardships at the hands of wars, famines, and political repression. |

Message | You do realize that this will ruin the economy ? If we take everyone, there will be a potential for an ethnic conflict (though a very small potential). But taking everybody and giving them aid will put even more stain on the already stained budget(please keep in mind the other bills that we voted). Furthermore if the refuges come in great numbers they will have a big impact on our national identity. I don’t say keep them out but just don’t let everybody in because it will ruin us. I think it’s better if we work together with the countries from where they come from. It may take time but it will treat the disease and not the effect. |

Message | We do not have to subsidize everyone indefinitely. The proposed law would only require us to let people who qualify as refugees (as opposed to regular immigrants) into the country and set up a program to help them establish themselves here. Once they are here, they will contribute to society and the economy as much as anyone else. And if we have massive numbers of refugees making their way to us, there are bigger problems to worry about than the national ego - like the widespread famine or genocide going on in our neighboring countries. It is true that refugees are a symptom, not the disease. But we do not deny people pain-killers in the course of treating a broken arm; we deal with the symptoms as best we can while doing the longer and harder work of fixing the root cause. Same thing here - while we take the time to fix the real problem, we must do what we can to help people in need in the present. |

Message | Yes but it’s likely that most of this refugees will only be able to do the menial jobs. Which will lead to an increase of unemployment(guess who will have to pay to keep them at a minimal standard of decency) and a drop in salaries as well as the fact that many of our citizens will lose their jobs because the emigrants are willing to accept a much lower salary and poorer working conditions. Also it seems this bill will create even more problems with foreign governments, not all will like the fact that their citizens leave in such large numbers to our country. “there are bigger problems to worry about than the national ego - like the widespread famine or genocide going on in our neighboring countries” The neighboring countries have governments too, let the foreign governments solve this problem with our assistance. We can’t just take them all in our country. It sounds good but it not reasonable. |
