Message | The minimum wage should not higher because we do not want people to choose it instead of working. It is a safety net not a way to enrich oneself. The NCP will oppose. |

Message | We continue to oppose the artificial nature of the "living wage" concept. We wonder whether the NCP has misinterpreted this bill; it is not a welfare bill. |

Message | This bill is nothing but blind idealism without any sort of reality check. A "living wage" is so broadly defined as to be a gigantic shot in the foot to the economy. It is IMPOSSIBLE for an economy to continue to sustain itself and be forced to provide a "living wage" to every Ikradonian. After all, what is a "living wage?" What does it entitle? That question cannot be answered and agreed upon, and even if it was, it would rape the economy to no end. We have not, will not, and never will support this economic suicide. |
Date | 04:28:51, December 25, 2006 CET | From | New Democratic Party | To | Debating the Living Wage Act of 2333 |
Message | The NDP suggests this definition: The living wage shall be calculated annually by the government, by adding the mean cost of food for the worker and one dependant, housing for the worker and one dependant, electricity, water, local telecommunications, schooling for a dependant, and an additional 30% discretionary spending. This living wage shall apply for the interval by which the worker is paid for full-time work. |

Message | On the contrary, it only makes economic sense to pursue this. It goes a long way toward fulfilling the macroeconomic goal of wealth redistribution which serves economic stability, in addition, in a non-economic sense it is simply the right thing to do. No person should undertake full-time work and still be unable to support themselves, and for the right-wing parties we suggest that this would provide a powerful incentive to work instead of trying to live off the much tinier unemployment support. |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
