This press message was released by the Government of the Commonwealth of Rutania.
EXTRAORDINARY scenes were witnessed today at a press conference from President Diane McCormack, where she announced that she had signed an executive order establishing a new organisation which she has named the National Commission on Rutanian Values. This commission, which according to the text of the order, contains broad ranging powers to investigate governmental agencies and political operations, is believed to be an extension of Ms McCormack's United Voice party's campaign against the current Solidarity Rutania/Utilitarian Party/Democratic Socialist Front cabinet - which began after Solidarity and the Utilitarians pledged to support a proposal to, among other things, allow obscene acts in Rutania's public spaces.
Rutania's former Prime Minister, and the United Voice parliamentary leader Patricia Kennedy called the bill 'child abuse' and called upon the cabinet to resign immediately. This was followed by a United Voice move to attempt to install a new cabinet, calling upon the Democratic Socialist Front to abandon their colleagues and join with the Urban Party and the United Voice in replacing the current government. In bringing this proposal forward, the President noted that:
"This government has already failed, as it has failed to consider the development and psychological health of the most vulnerable in Rutania. Our children will not be sacrificed on their political pyre."
The vote for this new cabinet is already ongoing, and would see the Democratic Socialist Front retain its current positions with the Urban Party taking the rest, with the exception of the Prime Ministership - which would fall back under the jurisdiction of Ms. Kennedy, who was ousted in the formation of the current coalition.
With these steps still being voted upon, many have called the executive order 'excessive'.
