Description[?]:
First established in 3712, the National Unity Party of Valruzia is a political party committed to the values of secularism and republicanism. Under the tenure of first party chairman Michal Ciszek, the NUP enjoyed a long spell as the government of Valruzia between 3718 and 3761; only in the 3748 general election did the party fail to secure an absolute majority, and even then by the narrowest of margins. Under the leadership of Ciszek the party promoted a unitarist agenda, beginning with the centralisation of existing government functions - the process soon extended to the nationalisation of key industries within Valruzia and extensive measures designed to protect institutions such as the National Health Service from the clutches of privatisation. During this period the party also enacted a series of secular reforms and helped to restore the reputation of Valruzia in the international sphere - NUP foreign policy directives secured the end of slavery in Luthori and contributed significantly towards ending religious persecution in Lodamun. Following the retirement of Ciszek, the party was briefly under the leadership of Antoni Prus who stepped down following the 3748 election before being succeeded by Stefania Kaszynski. Kaszynski oversaw a turbulent period where the party found itself in a series of coalitions designed to keep right-wing forces out of government. With opposition fading away altogether in 3778, the party re-established control over the Sejm. Two years later and Kaszynski found herself voted out of leadership in favour of hardliner Stefan Przybylski who immediately introduced the controversial Secularism Act which was designed to halt and, eventually, eradicate the spread of religion within Valruzia altogether. === NOW INACTIVE === |

Random fact: In cases where players introduce RP laws to a nation and then leave, Moderation reserves the discretion to declare the RP laws void if they appear to have fallen into disuse. In particular, please bear in mind that a player who is inexperienced with Particracy role-play and has joined a nation as the only party there should not generally be expected to abide by RP laws implemented by previous players who have been and left. |
