Description[?]:
The Social Union is a socially liberal party in favor of a balance between individual liberties and economic equity. We support a highly regulated free market economy to ensure both economic competition that results in innovation and the fair treatment of workers and consumers. We are in opposition to direct state ownership of industry but are sympathetic to the idea of workers' cooperatives, believing that more should be done to support them. We are wholeheartedly in support of the principles of free trade. History has shown time and time again that export-driven growth is necessary for developing nations to become developed. History has also shown that protectionism harms both consumers and producers, leading to higher prices that stunt economic growth. We support equal rights and human dignity for all. Nobody should be discriminated against or mistreated due to their gender identity, sex, orientation, or race. We are in full support of the LGBT cause and believe that it is the right of women to decide what to do with their own bodies. |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
Random quote: "Civil disobedience. . . is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience. . Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem." - Howard Zinn |
