Description[?]:
Founded in April 2530, the PRP represents a Rightist tendency in Hulstrian politics dedicated to bringing about a new era in the life of that country. The leadership core of the party is young, but battle-hardened, having risen through university politics and seen the stagnation and corruption of the old order. The PRP, along with its grey-shirted youth wing "Radikale Jugend", began life as an extra-parliamentary party, earning cabinet representation in a broad-based anti-socialist ministry headed by the Aenist Unionist Party. The two largest parties in the Diet were not included in the ministry, as they had previously voted down a national-unity cabinet. Working with the Budenlar League of Concerned Voters, the PRP's agenda has so far dealt with the deregulation of many industries, following years of socialist dominance in Hulstria. The party has also advocated a stricter morality in public. Following the elections of 2532, the PRP-AUP alliance split, with the AUP calling the PRP a left-wing party and the PRP attempting to freeze the AUP out of the new cabinet with little success. Citizens of Hulstria were thus treated to the unusual spectacle of Albert Kratz maintaining his Prime Ministership despite leading the smallest party in the Federal Diet. The political stalemate during Kratz' second term as Prime Minister redounded poorly on the PRP, which was reduced in numbers in an election where, due to the expansion of the Diet, all other parties gained seats. The PRP thus prepared for opposition as the new cabinet proposals were put forward, however the political stagnation continued, as squabbling among other parties regarding the higher levels of the cabinet resulted in these proposals being voted down as well. In response, Ministers Jonsson and Obrenovic resigned, refusing to be part of any government unable to resolve its differences. Following the appointment of Alois Steinhauser, one of the key PRP ideologues and a former head of the Budenlar League of Concerned Voters, as Internal Affairs Minister, the rift between the PRP and the TJU (the rebranded AUP) grew, with Steinhauser's views on traditional morality frequently being challenged by those of the TJU. A series of bills proposed by Steinhauser were defeated, due in no small part to TJU members crossing the floor. In the elections of 2543, Tamas Nagy received the endorsement of the Conservative Republican Party and (in the second round of voting) the Kaiserliche Hulsterreichische Partei, ultimately falling short of the Archonate by less than 2% of the national vote. The three-party secularist alliance which secured the Archonate in that year then demonstrated a complete lack of political principle by attempting to bring the CRP (whose endorsement of Nagy they had decried prior to the elections) into the cabinet. Seeing this lack of principle, Steinhauser and Obrenovic resigned, rather than letting their opponents have the enjoyment of unseating them. The PRP had already begun a policy of "Alternative Nazionaleführung" ("Alternative National Leadership") during the earlier Kratz ministry. This practice was redoubled following Steinhauser and Obrenovic's resignations. For the following 4 years, the PRP sat on the opposition benches. In late 2547, however, following the collapse of two parties, it found itself commanding nearly 20% of the national vote and returning to the cabinet in a landslide result for traditionalist parties. This cabinet did not last, as the TJU proceeded to wave further carrots under the noses of the swinging parties to shore up their support. TJU leader Damien Forge continued his policy of baiting the PRP at every opportunity, resulting in PRP President Johann Brennmann banning his followers from dealing with the TJU on any issue other than Diet votes. Unexpectedly, however, all anti-traditional parties collapsed prior to the 2550 elections, with the PRP claiming slightly under half of the legislature as well as the Archonate. The re-emergence of the centre-left UDH in 2551 brought about a return to the customary Left-Right division in Hulstrian politics, with the PRP and KHP facing a landslide UDH result in the restructured Diet. The PRP, KHP and UDH (later the RSPH) united their forces behind the restored Hulstrian monarchy, and successfully removed the last vestiges of the Aneist treachery from the state. In controversial circumstances, however, former PRP member Franz Elfenbein caused the party to be closed due to irregularities in its registration in early 2567.
