Description[?]:
-- Party Website -- http://neorationalpopulist.freehostia.com -- Party Platform -- Liberty Non-Aggression Right of Action Equality under the Law Free Entity Limited, Decentralized Government Citizen Sovereignty Accountability and Personal Responsibility Free Union of Saridani states Following Saridani's Constitution Fully -- Party History -- In the summer of June 2229 a group of distressed farmers, led by Moreno Carrera, met in a small warehouse to discuss their growing dissatisfaction with a government that claims to exist for the people but instead lines the pockets of ivory tower elitists that had devoured the leading parties. For far too long Saridan was politics as usual. Politicians made it a habit to grandstand as the people's choice with his ear to the ground.for farmer's rights. Unfortunately post-election the promises faded and instead policies were implemented that contradicted and unsettled the public's common views and ideals. It was on this night a new party was born; a party born of the will of the people, for the will of the people, a solution to the bureaucracy's growing neglect of the "Everyman". "It is time for the people to take back this great nation. We must stand up to the corrupt elites" those that have twisted our constitution to the will of their own agenda. an agenda built on preserving the status quo as long as it means they will always have control. We are the backbone of this country; its time we stand up for our rights, our freedoms, our lives. !! Moreno Carrera, June 2229. It would not be too long until this new Populist movement caught the eye of Saridan's workers unions, which had also been victim to the government's routine bait and switch policies. With this new working man's support came a practice of voting , with both your head and your heart, which led the naming of the official title of the Rational Populist Party. The Rational Populist Party quickly gained support and its candidates began to win local elections and change the political landscape of Aldumor, Warris, and Moshiran regions. However, with all of its success on the small stage the party had not yet found its voice to make it to the national spotlight. Soon the ideals of the movement spread through Saridan universities where there was an effort to define the party as either "left" or "right". Many scholars argued that the party should take a liberal approach while many others deemed that conservative ideals better represented the masses. It was here that Dr. Roger Carls, a Humanistic Psychology professor at Warris Regional University and head-chair of the Masonic-Populist council, further defined the philosophies of a Rational party as one that asserts that the truth can best be discovered by reason and factual analysis, rather than faith, dogma or religious teaching. This ideology launched what has become the modern Neo-Rational Populist Party. The party became polarized immediately following the election of 2250. Presidential candidate Moreno Carrera had shifted policies leading up to the election in hopes to gain voters. Unfortunately this attempt backfired and instead of gaining voters he ended up alienating the NRPP base and sent their votes to a newly formed CSOTP party. The fundamental principals of the movement had been lost and the ranking members of the NRPP chose not to back Carrera in future elections. A dramatic turnaround came only six years later as the NRPP reclaimed nearly all seats previously lost and began a dramatic shift in platforms towards a true populist pro local government campaign satisfying both the conservative and liberal wings of the party as well as attracting new votes from citizens tired of the constant volley of extremes caused by a constantly changing central government. With the party regaining its grassroots values, hopes have been set for the NRPP to continue its rationally progressive policies towards a better Saridani future for its people. Random quote: On 7th February 4281 a group of renowned Metzist experts from all across Terra met in Haldor to form the International Committee for the Estimation of the End Date of Capitalism (ICEEDC). With the assistance of a powerful computer, they calculated that capitalism will terminate Terra-wide on 6th November 4320, and in Dorvik on April 17th 4310. We have no reason whatsoever to believe these very eminent and learned scholars are wrong. They have never been wrong about anything before. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer, General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party |
