Description[?]:
The Third Way (4114-) The Third Way, a new political party founded after the Chaos of Kanjor, (4094-4113) has been established to ensure that democracy truly does reign in Kanjor. The Third Way, loosely inspired by the now defunct United Party of Centrists, intends to balance power with the newly established Parti Républicain. The party has been established by Jonah Magonide, the nephew of John Magonide, who lived through the Chaos of Kanjor as well as being the last UPC party member to be elected in a runoff election in 4098. Jonah Magonide was able to flee Kanjor during the fascist government, and tried to gather international forces to fight against the government. Now, he has returned, and he has a handful of remaining UCP members who seek to retake the political arena. PARTY LEADERS Jonah Magonide (4114- Founder and leader Presidential nominees (Pres + VP): 4118- Jonah Magonide + Martial Chaucer 4122- Jonah Magonide + Martial Chaucer 4126- Jonah Magonide + Danielle Baillieu 4130- Danielle Baillieu + Marian Bocuse 4134-Danielle Baillieu + Marian Bocuse 4138-Marian Bocuse + Edgar Renou Presidents: Jonah Magonide (4118-4122) Danielle Baillieu (4130-4134) Party Makeup-% correlates to % made up in parliament February 4118 Poll Centrist: 50% Liberal: 26% Conservative: 24% May 4137 Poll Centrist: 43% Liberal: 30% Conservative: 27% The Ultra-Nationalistic Party of Kanjor (4098-4113) PARTY LEADERS Tristan Bourbeau (4098-4105) Founder and leader Presidential nominees: Tristan Bourbeau Presidents: Tristan Bourbeau (4098-4105) Danielle Routan, voted in secretly and died via internal coup (4105-4113) Council of Fascists, negotiated free elections (4113-4114) Election History: 4098-750 seats Party Makeup-% correlates to % made up in parliament 4098 Poll: 100% Fascist UPC (4080-4098) BRIEF DESCRIPTION The UPC was founded to provide a voice and opportunity to those who do not agree with the extreme parties dominating the political field. This party respects and understands the many facets of the Left-Right dichotomy, but seeks to bridge the divide and create a society that can function off of the positive aspects of both ideologies. SPECIFIC POLICIES Role of Government: We believe that the federal government is neither good or bad. Local governments must work together with the federal government in order to do what is best for the citizens of Kanjor. The federal government is instrumental in protecting the overall well being of its citizens, however local governments will be more informed on their own populations and will better understand the ramifications of certain legislation. Government Spending/Taxation: The government has to be efficient and intelligent when funding certain projects. The governments job is to invest in its people and protect its citizens form internal and external threats. This requires extensive funding in Infrastructure, Education, R&D, and Defense. Taxes should be as efficient as possible. Taxes for the lower and middle class should be much less than that of the upper classes. We must maintain our middle class if we want to continue growing as a nation. Civil Liberties: All civil liberties must be respected, but to a certain effect. What we mean by this is if a certain liberty has direct short term or long term harms to a citizen of citizens around him/her, the the government should make sure that this liberty is in check and regulated for the general health and well being of the population. This should fall to the local governments. Civil liberties such as Abortion, Homosexual rights, etc... should be protected under the government, and any challenge to these intrinsic human rights will be faced with opposition from our party. Military/Foreign Policy: We believe that we should maintain a strong military as we are constantly facing external as well as internal threats. That being said, the use of unjustified war or combat is not condoned. Unless we are attacked, war should not be our first resort. We must find diplomatic ways to settle our differences. Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
