Founded as the Revolutionary Progressive Party originally, the Vorona Progressive Labor Party (sometimes nicknamed in the media as the Red Party or just "the Reds") is a Communist political party that was formed by various local unionist cadres that organized and merged to form a political party on August 1st 5209, since the 5215 elections the VPLP has been one of the major political forces in the country. The party mostly draws its support from working class voters as well as ethnic and social minorities, and describes itself as "radical and pragmatic". Despite being officially a Communist party, the party itself draws in many different leftist views and allows them into its ranks, some observers call the party a "big tent of the radical left", or a united front of leftist forces. The following describes the party: MEMBERSHIP (5275): 2.5 Million LEADERSHIP: Central Committee of the Vorona Progressive Labor Party IDEOLOGY: -Communism (Official) -Socialism (Factions) -Syndicalism (Factions) -Ethnic Unitarism -Republicanism -Anti-imperialism -Cultural Progressivism -Anti-Capitalism YOUTH WING: Workers' Youth League (Party activists 16-30 years of age) Progressive Labor and Students Alliance (Collegiate and High School wing) TRADE UNION WING: Confederation of Industrial Trade Unions (CITU) POSITION: Left-wing to Far-Left -----------Party History----------- (Founded on August 1st, 5209) Sigor Rumansk (5209-5215) - In Opposition, led the party from its beginning Sigor Rumansk (5215-5218) - In Government, formed the first VPLP government Sigor Rumansk (5218-5220) - In Opposition, resigned while party was in opposition due to poor results Kemelia Sanders (5220-5235) - In Government, Harris was President 5226-5235, stepped down after 3 presidential terms and 6 years as PM before that Matthias Harris (5235-5250) - In Government, took over after Sanders retired, retired after 5 terms as president. VPLP Central Committee selected Pavlov Czyczon to be their presidential candidate in the upcoming election. Pavloc Czyczon (5250-5265) - In Government, retired after 5 terms as president, Central Committee elected party deputy secretary Gabriella Zulewski to replace him as presidential candidate. Gabriella Zulewski (5265-5276) - In Government, was elected president of Vorona and former chair of the Central Committee. Announced that she would retire in 5276. Replaced by Jacob Kacynski for candidate for President. |
