Description[?]:
On the 3th of February 2873 Giuliano D'Anselmo, a former university professor and popular independent councillor in Merkan, announced his intention to run as leader of an independent list in the next election. Here's a transcript of a part of his speech at the occasion: In 2887 Giuliano d'Anselmo was elected president of the Republic of Kirlawa. " Dear friends, Over the past few years I've had an occasion to observe politics from within and I can't say I found it a particulary inspiring experience. The way in wich all major parties cooperate in order to preserve their own power and keep citizens out of decision making is appalling, the lack of genuine opposition even more so. I stand here today in front of you with a project that, I hope, will put an end to this. Not a party like all others, but a movement that will sweep kirlawa and create a new era in politics. With me on this are many of the good independent councillors from all over Kirlawa that I've met over the last few years and whom I'll lead into the upcoming election. Together we hope to present good citizens with a real alternative. Let's put the people back in democracy!" |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
