Description[?]:

The Imperial Citizen's Union is a major political party in the Imperial Narikaton that exists as the last remaining moderate party and the only party in the left wing of the political spectrum recognized by the imperial government. The party used to be called the Libertarian Socialist Party until the change in 3118 upon no longer being a fringe party for many years.
The idea for the Citizen's Union is to be the representation of the citizenry in a government that seems to be wrapped up in various agendas that are counter to the well-being of the majority of Nariks as a whole.

The first chairman of the party was Dr. Tristan Johnson, a Historian from Kozaria. Originally a Libertarian supporter, in 3000 he wrote the book "Wage Slavery: A History of Capitalism in Narikaton". In the years since the book's release, Johnson has become a stronger and stronger critic of the Libertarian party, at times even advocating Communist policies and candidates. Tristan Johnson died in a car accident in April of 3028. The new leader of the party Erin Sistak led with a stronger emphasis on being the force of compromise between the larger left wing and right wing parties of Darnussia. She took a strong stance against the Darnussia Keymon war, and stayed a peace activist until her death in the nuclear attack on Merenburg in 3035. The leadership was kept up by GreenShirt leader and radical leftist Falko Saft. Under his leadership the party refound its purpose and when he retired. The current leader Simone Bronstein is a controversial leader having her family ties to the legendary Communist Bronstein line and her age combined with a more radical agenda during a very stable time in party history.

Current Leader and Presidential Candidate: Tony Jackal

Major issues of the Citizen's Union includes:
-Reducing Government intervention in the life choices of the citizenry
-Demilitarization, criminalization of war, and pacifist causes
-Using government as the bulwark against abusive capitalist practices
-Improving the living conditions and size of the middle class
-Preserving and repairing the imperial environment
-Political reforms for either better representation of imperial territory or autonomy form.

Social democracy is a political ideology of the left on the classic political spectrum. The contemporary social democratic movement seeks to reform capitalism to align it with the ethical ideals of social justice while maintaining the capitalist mode of production, as opposed to creating an alternative socialist economic system. Practical modern social democratic policies include the promotion of a welfare state, and the creation of economic democracy as a means to secure workers' rights.
Social democracy was a form of evolutionary reformist socialism, rejecting elements of Marxism, Revolutionary socialism and class struggle, and taking a moderate position that socialism could be established through political reforms. The distinction between Social Democracy and Democratic Socialism had yet to fully develop at this time.

Social democracy is a socialist movement supporting gradualism; the belief that gradual democratic reforms to capitalist economies will eventually succeed in creating a socialist economy, rejecting forcible imposition of socialism through revolutionary means. This gradualism has resulted in various far left groups, including communists, of accusing social democracy of accepting the values of capitalist society and therefore not being a genuine form of socialism, instead labeling it a concession made to the working class by the ruling class. Social democracy rejects the Marxian principle of dictatorship of the proletariat and the creation of a socialist state, claiming that gradualist democratic reforms will improve the rights of the working class.
