Description[?]:
The Syzygy party is a coalition of democratic-socialists. It takes it's name from the word Syzygy, meaning the alignment of three celestial bodies. Taking the definition, we use it as a symbol for our political goals: the alignment of freedom, equality, and peace. The Syzygy party has consistently fought for the rights of low-income earners and the poor. In February of 3181 we successfully introduced a bill that subsidized all forms of public transport for low-income earners, that unified all parties for a 100 percent yes vote. In February of 3183 we introduced a measure that would subsidize college tuition for all low-income earners and the poor. Later that year, we struck the bill due to lack of support and supported a Bill by the Deltarian Civic Forum that achieved the same ends that was passed. The Syzygy Party soon became part of the Goverment Coalition between the Liberal Party of Deltaria, The Deltarian Civic Forum, the Whig Party and the Syzygy Party. Soon after the parties split, destroying the coalition. In 3185 the Syzygy party made a bid for Head of State, winning with the support of the Liberal Party. A year after in 3186 the Syzygy Party lost it's position with the supporters of the defunct Deltarian Civic Union backing the Whig Party with overwhelming numbers. Now, using the momentum it gained with the emotional and ferocious denouncement of the evils of the Majatran Union, the Syzygy Party heads into the elections of 3190 with a renewed confidence. In the early spring of 3221 the Syzygy Party had lost it's way and many perceived this as the end of the party. And so it was for nearly 300 years. However, tired of czarist rule and a determination to get back to the Republic that now resided only in the history books, malcontent citizens rose up, fashioning a new Syzygy Party, to get back to the Deltaria of the old days. A Deltaria free of fascism and one man rule, back to the democracy others all those years ago so enjoyed. After a tough up-hill climb and several set-backs from the Czarist parties, the fortunes of the Syzygy party had changed in the 3498 elections. They claimed a large number of seats away from Czarist parties and was away from the majority by a single seat. Now with a renewed determination and a shared mistrust of the Czardom with the People's Party, the Syzygy party seeks to consolidate it's victories into a super-majority shared with the PP. If such a goal could be achieved it would spell the end of the Czardom in Deltaria. Much work lies a head. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
