February 2172: New Chairman After a month-long election in which all registered members of the SFM had a chance to vote, Armando Al-Weizz, a Hosamian councilman for the SFM, was elected chairman of The Socialist Front of Mordusia. While it was a close election to begin with, Al-Weizz came through in the final round with around 69 % of the vote. July 2171: Oierathu Resigns! "During the yearly party congress, the 68 year old Frank Oierathu, who has been the leader of the SFM since its birth, announced his resignation. "I've been with this party from its beginning. I've seen it rise. From an unimportant small party, we have become the third biggest party in Mordusia. Our succes has overwhelmed me. But I stand before you as an old man. I am no longer fit to lead this party. While I have loved my time here, it is time for a new, energetic leader. Thanks to everyone for their support, and good luck to the future leader - Continue our struggle for justice, equality and solidarity." While it is currently unknown who will be the next chairman of the SFM, popular candidates are Maria Thompson, advisor on Health and Social Services, and Dennis Ferdinand, advisor on Foreign Affairs." Party History; The Socialist Front of Mordusia is a libertarian socialist party. It believes in extensive civil rights, a strictly controlled government and police force, universal healthcare, free education and solidarity among the working classes of Mordusia. It was set up after a convention of workers, trade-unionists, students, artists and intellectuals and middle-class citizens sympathetic to the struggle of the people. Agreeing that unconditional support for the current parties would not be beneficial to the workers cause, and agreeing that a revolution was not possible, it was established that they would set up their own party, and work for changes through the parliament, represented by themselves, through The Socialist Front of Mordusia. The current chairman of the party is university professor in history, Frank Oierathu. He was democratically elected by a referendum shortly after the party had been set up. |
