The first leadership election of the Labour Refoundation Convention took place between Michel Arnault and Helen Jenkins. Michel was a trade unionist, the general secretary of the National Educators' Union, who are the primary Labour funders, and Helen Jenkins, a former news anchor who hosted "This Week on Sunday" on the Mordusian News Network. Arnault's campaign was primarily supported by the NEU, who funded and campaigned for him, and he was the expected winner at first, as the NEU had been the main force driving the creation of Labour. Helen joined the race soon after, abandoning her hosting job to pursue leadership of Labour in a huge shock to the party's founding organisations. She had been one of the most vocal critics of the Conservative government, interviewing several people who have been effected by their policies. Jenkins was perceived as the more left-wing candidate, whereas Arnault was seen as more moderate, in line with leftist parties in the past who ran here. Helen proposed expanding nuclear power, reinstating several universal benefits, and most importantly to her victory, implementing a national healthcare system to replace the current system of CommonHealth, fully costed by her campaign. Results of election: Jenkins - 61.8% Arnault - 38.2% |

Random quote: "The answer to global warming is in the abolition of private property and production for human need. A socialist world would place an enormous priority on alternative energy sources. This is what ecologically-minded socialists have been exploring for quite some time now." - Louis Proyect |
