Description[?]:
Basing its principles on the most recent findings of voting theorists, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is a party committed to democracy and social justice. A summary of its platform follows: 1. Majority Rule The SDP favors decisions made by majority rule. By and large it is against systems of checks and balances, as these sometimes prevent decisions from being made by a simple majority. One consequence of this is that SDP members are in most respects unitarists. 2. Equal and Proportional Representation The SDP feels that if one representative represents 1% of the people, then ideally no other representative will represent more or less than 1% of the people. Similarly, if a party gets 20% of the people's votes, it should get 20% of the seats in the legislature. 3. Other Policies The SDP favors social welfare programs, including universal health care. It is socially liberal, wishing to grant a wide range of civil liberties to all. Among other things this means that the SDP wishes to grant equal rights to lesbian, gay, and bisexual people and freedoms to women, intersex people, and trans people. The SDP supports workers' rights and favors unregulated labor unions. Last but far from least, it should be noted that members of the SDP are firm believers in deliberative democracy. As such, they believe in working in a spirit of cooperation. It has from time to time removed proposals disliked by other parties from bills that it has proposed. The SDP requests that all parties engage in respectful dialogue so that together we may shape Solentia for the better. |

Voting Record
This is the voting[?] record of the Social Democratic Party.
Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
