Bill: Representatives Act of 2358 (II)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Jakanian Liberal Socialists

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2360

Description[?]:

This act seeks to recognise the unjust forms of legislation, and denounce them as counter to a functioning democratic parliament.

Among the things this act will make illegal, are so called "rider bills"; non-related proposals tagged onto a bill that parties would otherwise be afraid to reject. By the same token, "omnibus bills", bills containing a collection of proposals covering seperate areas, shall be made illegal as being contrary to transparency and jeopardising representatives' powers to properly represent their voters.

To do this, following the passage of this act, all bill proposals must be linked thematically in some way; as usually detailed in the bill description.

MessageWe agree with the UDA. We believe a bill should not be limited on what it is meant to legislatively accomplish. However, we do not appreciate bills that are excessively long. But we will not rule out a large number of proposals within a bill.

MessageThat bit can be removed, we believe the most important part is to deal with so-called riders and omnibus bills.

Will it be supported without the proposal number limitations?

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
