Message | One of the goals of prison is to rehabilitate. Article 5 helps to do that |

Message | Yes. We don't particularly disagree strongly with article 5, we simply don't particularly agree. In our opinion, prison is only for extreme cases, such as murder and rape. We just think there are better things the government can do with the money that it has taken from its people than rehabilitate murderers. In our opinion, prison should be first and foremost a deterrence, which is somewhat hindered by turning it into a place of learning. We feel that prison should secondarily be a place to keep dangerous criminals so that they are not a menace to society. We don't know if the most dangerous criminals, the only kind that we feel should be put in prison, we don't know if they can be rehabilitated (By which we mean we haven't read any research on the subject, that we literally do not know enough to form an opinion. We are, as is our habit, using the 'we' in the sense of the 'royal we' or 'imperial plural', really referring only to a single individual, and not in the sense of 'we as society as a whole'). So, yes, on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being 'strongly disagree' and 10 being 'strongly agree' and 5 being 'don't give a [expletive]', we are approximately at a 3 or 4 on this issue. |
