Message | This is perhaps the most detrimental legislation written and presented to the Supreme Council for a vote yet. We hope that fellow party members share our view on this disasterous bill. After working to change our nation from the terrors it witheld, we can now see them reversed by legislation like this. |
Date | 06:52:28, February 20, 2007 CET | From | Scientific Libertarian Party | To | Debating the Military Bill |
Message | On the one hand, we are in favour of using the threat of Massive Retaliation to deter attacks, while not actually being in favour of said hyperdestructive weaponry itself. On the other hand, we will not be in power forever, and cannot necessarily trust anyone else not to actually, you know, use the weapons themselves, which would of course be abhorrent. Leaving aside the obvious fact that any majority government willing to use WMDs could just reverse this legislation and make it legal. But as it would kind of defeat the purpose to enact legislation specifying that the government can threaten Massive Retaliation but cannot actually, you know, retaliate massively, we're going to have to leave them banned and keep our military old-fashioned. |

Message | We were sorely tempted to reverse our position on this issue in the light of Solentian hostility, but then we realized: These bloodthirsty fascists are unlikely to be swayed by mere threats, and we would be unwilling to actually use the weaponry, so keeping it around would be pointless. We consider keeping a stockpile of high-yield nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles in case our nation is invaded and overrun, if all else fails, the destruction of their infrastructure and war machine could allow us to push them back out. But for now, still no. |

Random fact: "Game mechanics comes first." For example, if a currently-enforced bill sets out one law, then a player cannot claim the government has set out a contradictory law. |
