This is the second official Jakanian State of Finance Address in the nation's history. It is presented by Finance Minister Adlai E. Stevenson. It is centered around most recent amendments to Jakania's fiscal division and the latest budgets.
_____
"Good day to all, pleasant greetings.

Today we speak of Jakania's National Budget and its ability to compete in international markets. For years, Jakania has been crippled by poor and mismanaged funding. In that span of time, our market values were decreased, our economy dipped to lows, and our very society struggled to progress forth. Now, as I give this very speech, I can freely say this is history.

In the recent years of our history, our budget has struggled to maintain a growing nation and its people. Our population is the fourth largest in the world and our previous financial situations were not near enough to take care of every citizen in the best regards. Now, we can be relieved of such.

Just a few months ago my most recent budget has been successfully passed through the Supreme Council with an unopposed vote and plenty to sustain its passage. I am proud to say with this new budget, our nation will be fitted with the most appropriate spending we can possibly offer to our nation while still remembering fiscal responsibility. This budget that I formally introduced to the Supreme Council could not have been passed without the strong support the other parties and Ministers in the Cabinet offered and for this I thank them. But, we shall now move on towards my point.

With the new United Budget of 2377 passed, we can officially provide real support to the people. Health and Social Services had a dramatic hike in spending and for good reason too. Our nation has become more of a welfare state, providing the people with every day social needs that are practical to their use. Transportation, mail services, and industries have been revised towards a more caring government and a freer people. For the first time in years, the government will actually now step in to help its people rather than watching from afar like it had been. The neglect is finally over and our people have our support.
United Budget of 2337 introduced higher spending in crucial areas to the people's wellbeing and lifestyle as well aiding national services. Every area across the board in each separate division has been improved with more abundant spending. There will be dramatic cuts in financial crises throughout Jakania. Areas like Defense now have more money to implement better military technologies and state-of-the-art weaponry to their arsenals, improving our peoples' safety. Jakania now has shown it is stepping itself up in all areas. The former poorly managed and underfunded Environment and Tourism Division has now the ability to actually take care of our growing nation. We can now literally protect and safeguard the environment. These are merely a few areas we have increased, but the changes are significant in themselves.

I have been proud to serve as Finance Minister and thank the nation and parties for giving me a well served term. I am even more proud that the Supreme Council and the people feel that no change is needed in Jakania in our Financial Ministry.

As I end this state of Jakania's finance, I must urge all parties to keep this in mind. First, we must continue to let the economy grow at its course. Second, we must avoid a deficit at all costs for when a country enters a deficit no matter how small it risks being pulled into a dangerous financial situation. Third, we must gradually keep increasing our spending to allocate more funds to Jakania's growing needs and services. If we are to keep funding this nation in terms of a welfare state, then we must keep our promise to the people and give them what we have made law.

Thank you all, and once again, a good day to the People of the Nation and the Supreme Council."

MessageIf the wasteful turn this country has taken lately means the spending we have passed into law, then we're not so sure what the S.L.P. talks about. The government is supposed to spend revenue, not just watch it accumulate and keep it for show. We have money for a reason, and that is to spend it on our citizens for their wellbeing. What would be the point of collecting taxes? Only in a governmentless anarchy would their be no taxes and spending and the last time we checked Jakania has a government. It has been proven that no taxes means no government and no society.

Wasteful would be the government hoarding all the money and revenue it collects and doing nothing with it, like the S.L.P. would propose to do. Wastefu would be keeping the money locked up and staring at it saying "Wow, don't you just love it when the government hordes all the money away for itself for no reason what-so-ever?".
