Message | "Seeing as how I am the minister of Justice and my party totally controls the ministry, I feel as though it is my place to say that this bill is just horrible. It totally ruins Jakania's justice system." -Minister of Justice, Jacob Kotowski, UDJ |
Date | 17:53:32, April 09, 2007 CET | From | Moderate Republican Party | To | Debating the National Reformation IV |
Message | Articles 3 and 4 are the two proposals we disagree with the most. If a citizen of Jakania committs a crime in Jakania, they should be tried here for their offense and not extradated to another nation. The current law in Article 4, which grants defendants the right to a government-provided lawyer in a criminal case, is also a current law in the United States. What if a lower-class citizen is wrongfully accused of a crime and does not have the means to pay for a defense lawyer? This bill denies those citizens the right to fair and equal representation in a trial. |
