Message | we feel a minimum wage above the poverty line is enought to ensure workers are not exploited, Keeping people above the poverty line is in our view enough, any further interference would be wrong in our view. |

Message | Minimum wage is in now way simply "not exploitation". Any worker who produces a good or service (in essence, ALL workers: and given this defintion, EVERYONE who works) and is not given full compensation is exploitation. One of the DLP's pillars is non-exploitation. If a worker makes 5 rupees while producing a commodity that is sold for 100 rupees has, in essence, PAID (not earned) 95 rupees for their work. They are not getting the 95 rupees extra that their product has earned. THAT is exploitation. (Minus the cost of materials, transportation, etc). The DLP wholeheartedly accepts the proposed Bill as a step in the right direction. While the newly dubbed "Grand Alliance" may wish to end all protections of the workers, the DLP will fight to ensure at least a livable wage! |
