Bill: Keeping Our Fingers Out Of Sour Pies

Details

Submitted by[?]: Ma'avak

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2448

Description[?]:

"For too long Beiteynu has been too concerned with promoting ourselves as "Justice Police of Terra" feeling it was our duty to stand up for other nations and tell them how to govern themselves. However successive governments adopting this policy has shown us that it has been nothing but detrimental to our global prestige. As such we propose a scaling down of our international requirements by withdrawing from these treaties. It is not up to us to tell other nations how to run their nations just like they have no right to impede on our ability to govern. Sovereignty must reign above all."

While we would normally disagree with pulling out of Aldegar Canal Security Treaty, due to the tax exemption it gives to our companies and citizens, it's pullout of the Accord, and it's attempt to involve itself against Accord members in Mordusia highlight the potential conflict of interest which could arise by our continued involvement in it. For now, we will support our withdrawal from it.

MessageAdditionally in regards to the Canal Treaty it should be noted that it states for us:

(1) they shall defend Aldegar in any case that Aldegar's sovereign territory is attacked by militias or professional soldiers of a foreign entity,

Whereas for Aldegar it merely states:

(3) they shall strongly consider going to the defense of a ratifying nation that is attacked by a foreign entity,

As such we are bound to defend them whilst they only have to consider defending us. This unfair balance, especially in regards to a nation we can no longer call an ally, is something we at Aymam can not support.

MessageThe MVR will gladly see every treaty that ties the hand of our legislature without offering any tangible benefit to our Homeland. Thus we support withdrawal from the treaties under article 1 and 2, but will want to see us stay the OPEN as it continuously benefits our citizens and humanity as a whole.
