Message | Penguins are unique and cool. I bet bears are found across half of Terra. |

Message | Unique and cool? Thats what you are bringing to the table? Penguins don't even live in Kanjor. |

Message | PROVE IT. We're one of the most southernmost nations in Terra... Who has the authority to decide what animals live here? I find it harder to believe that we have bears than penguins. |

Message | Ok. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emporer_penguin “It is endemic to Antarctica, and is the only penguin species that breeds during the Antarctic winter.” Kanjor does not, thankfully, have the same geography and climate as Antarctica. And just in case you are curious about bears... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bear “Although there are only eight living species of bear, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety of habitats throughout the Northern Hemisphere and partially in the Southern Hemisphere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bear#Habitats “Bears live in a variety of habitats from the tropics to the Arctic and from forests to snowfields.” |

Message | "By the year 2100, growing emperor penguin populations on ice floes to the south had found niches within the habitat of Tondola Isle's southern coastline, and Kanjorans were seized with national obsession over the animal." Guess what- THIS IS TERRA. |

Message | Penguins are way better than stupid bears... But I guess we don't want to be more creative than other countries. |

Message | You're right. No one else has the Emperor Penguin as its national animal. http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Telamon In any case, national symbols are supposed to symbolically represent nations. They are iconic representations of the nations people, their values, goals, and/or history. In terms of the national animal, it is usually chosen from the wildlife of the nation, although mythological beasts are also sometimes used. Indeed, this is Terra, not Earth. But, I’m assuming that Terra follows all the same ecological rules as Earth. And Emperor Penguins are ONLY found in Antarctica. The bear was thought to possess diplomacy equal to its great strength and it is the emblem of ferocity in the protection of kindred. A bear is also a symbol of healing and personal health, strength and bravery. The penguin isn’t considered symbolic of anything, other than maybe being pathetic. As the artic explorer, Apsley Cherry-Garrard, said: "Take it all in all, I do not believe anybody on Earth has a worse time than an Emperor Penguin." |

Message | OOC: I'm sure I know far more about bears than you or the other six people behind the parties of Kanjor. I LIVE IN ALASKA. I seem to have read that quote recently and for me it only attests to the Emperor Penguins great qualities- endurance, strength, perseverance and certainly a much greater devotion to its family than a bear's. And "personal health?" Believe me the only thing that's pathetic in this debacle is how you're so set against a wonderful creature that was set down by Kanjor's original founders as the national animal and is in fact still on our coat of arms. |

Message | As we are the southernmost nation (we believe) penguins do seem appropriate. |

Message | Durr, by that logic, I guess no one knows much of anything about emperor penguins since no one lives in Antartica. |

Message | No, by that logic Kanjorans know much about penguins and appreciate them (unlike some people) because penguins live in Kanjor. |

Message | Emperor penguins are not suited to live in Kanjor. Its not that the don’t. Its that they can’t. Unless our climate is identical or similar to Antarctica. Is it? |

Message | I'm done with this. THE FOUNDING FATHERS OF THIS NATION SET DOWN OUR NATIONAL ANIMAL AS THE PENGUIN. I'm not going to say another word on this subject, since it's already failed. |
