MessageThis at least is a nice flag.

The main problem concerning it - as most proposals of the kind - is its partisan nature. Solentia's flag must be able to represent the whole of Solentians, from the far left to the far right - and not only the Liberals, as this one (or the Federal Independents, as was the case of a recent proposal).

Also, the Workers Party feels concerned with the misuse of the Senate's time to debate such secondary issues.

For those reasons, we shall vote "no".

MessageWe agree with the Workers Party, we have key policies and issues to discuss. Let us not waste the time of the senate any longer with unimportant issues. Also, this debate seems to arise a lot and so far the answer has always been a No. I am sorry, but my party and I will also vote No.

MessageGentlemen this is ludicrous! This flag, as stated above, represents a move towards peace. All parties in Solentia be they liberal or conservative have expressed desires for peace and forward movement. Our current flag represents communism, we are not a communist country, how can you prefer that?

Furthermore your excuses regarding the "misuse of the Senate's time" are pathetic at best. If that is your excuse, then it is you who is wasting the Senate's time by holding up the passing of this bill with ridiculous arguments.

If you have issues with the proposed design, I would prefer you suggested areas for improvement or took some of your own time to design a flag, rather than criticise the LPS, a party that has achieved more than you ever will in this nation.

MessageI would ask that this debate be kept to a respectable level. Insults are not the answer to our problems. In fact, I stand to correct all parties here. It is a waste of our time to be insulting each other and throwing partisan bicker back and forth at one another.

~ A random "Incompetent Federal Independent Senator" elected just to annoy Mr. Livingston

MessageMy apologies Senators for Mr. Livingston's conduct,

As you well know, Mr. Livingston is a reletively inexperienced Senator, who still sometimes needs to learn when it is best to be dipolomatic and when it is best to be forceful. Mr. Livingston is a man of action, an opportunist and an outspoken individual. I can assure you however he wants what is best for the nation, his methods are sometimes however, somewhat unconventional.

As for the bill, my response is simple: Senators, a flag is representive of the nation and I personally am of the opinion that this flag represents progression, morality and peace. These aspects I believe are something that we all wish for in our nation.

Once again, I apologise for Mr. Livingston's conduct, he will be dealt with.

Xavier Evans, Party Leader

(OOC: I'm not personally attacking any of you, I think you're all great players. I'm just trying to build a different sort of character out of Cadel Livingston to liven things up a bit. Yes, he is a bit of an ass, be mean to him all you like =) )

MessageIf what annoys the parties in the government coalition are the "communist" implications of the symbols in the flags, may we suggest the following alternatives:

1. The same flag as we have, with the hammer and sickle suppressed.
2. The same, with the star and the hammer and sickle suppressed.
3. The same flag, with the hammer and sickel suppressed from the star, and the crescent suppressed.
4. A flag consisting only of the green and red bars, with no symbols.

We would not block the approval of any of the above, provided that the other parties reach a consensus towards one of them. If however the parties in the government coalition chose to quarrel about it, we will vote against any proposal that isn't consensual.

MessageDuly noted Mr Gonzales and thankyou for your input. I would then have your backing to commission the design of a new flag in line with your suggestions?

MessageAs said before, this flag represents the Liberal Party, not all of the Solentians.

We are still waiting for a proposal that can reach a consensus.
