Message | The PLP will have to undertake a study of the effects of this bill before taking a position on it. OOC: I remember looking over the waste disposal options, but I'm not sure what they mean. If someone would like to enlighten me it would be appreciated. If this means the government collects trash when it has not been doing so, I'm for it (although it might also be something to delegate to local governments). If it means that the government takes care of disposing the chemical and other dangerous waste of corporations, and it already collects regular trash from individuals and businesses, then I'm against it. |

Message | The other options imply that private industries would take care of trash, however, I don't see how that is possible as I doubt it's a profitable industry unless you charge for trash collection, which would hurt poorer communities. So I support this proposal. |

Message | It is not unheard of for communities to handle trash on a small scale often by using dumpsites that are basically in their back yard. We however believe that in the interests of the public health it would be better if the government took over trash collection. (OOC: the forum thread that led to this made it pretty clear that it's talking about municipal waste and such. The current law refers to just picking up special waste from activities like arms manufacturing...like really dangerous stuff) |

Message | Now that we have undertaken our study, we are prepared to support this legislation. (OOC: Thanks for the info on what it means.) |
