Whereas, tobacco most definitely should remain legal, but Whereas, the smoking of it in indoor public places infringes on the rights of those who do not wish to breathe it, and Whereas, the employees in such establishments are particularly victimized, as they have the awful choice of breathing in others' smoke or having to quit their jobs, We propose that smoking be illegal in all indoor places of business where non-owners are employed, and also in all government-owned buildings in which people are employed. |

Message | We have no idea whether this bill has much chance to pass, but we do feel very strongly on the issue and it has been a while since it has been brought up. Second hand smoke is, in fact, a significant health risk, as studies not paid for by tobacco companies universally back, so while the PLP supports the rights of people to smoke in situations where others do not have to breathe their smoke, we strongly believe that people should be free from breathing the toxic fumes of others. |
Date | 22:48:29, August 29, 2005 CET | From | Neoretropostmodernist Party | To | Debating the Employee Health Act |
Message | Businesses should have last say in allowing smoking on their property. If second hand smoke is such a risk, let the business patrons convince the businesses to ban smoking on their premises. |

Message | How about employees, who may need the job enough to feel forced to keep it and put up with the invasion of their lungs? |
