Message | We oppose: this proposal could have the effects to reduce civil liberties creating a main control of the Government on citizens. |
Date | 02:25:28, August 23, 2008 CET | From | Federal Rutanian Libertarian Union | To | Debating the Identity Cards Act |
Message | The RDF most certainly means "will ease the ability for the government to control our citizens". |
Date | 04:18:17, August 23, 2008 CET | From | Humanist Alliance | To | Debating the Identity Cards Act |
Message | They are only issued on a voluntary basis, so we do not see the PCP/LSLR point of view. |

Message | "Identity cards are there for easier identification. When you come in the bank, or must do some important job, how could you prove, without any doubt, your identity? You cannot. ALthough identity cards have also some negative aspects, we think that the identification will be easier. We do nhot share the point of view of PCP and LibSoc. RDF would like them to say clearly, how can government control our citizens with issueing identity cards? ANd, although we have already been faced with (paranoic?) positions of PCP, so we are not surprised, we are surprised by the reaction of LibSoc party." |

Message | Why on earth would you be surprised by the reaction of the LibSoc party? This increases government power by forcing a registry of all our citizen's information into government databases and also by allowing for the government to monitor the actions of all people - does no one else fear what the government can do with access to such information? |
Date | 20:44:43, August 24, 2008 CET | From | Rutanian Democratic Forum | To | Debating the Identity Cards Act |
Message | Identity cards have their advantages and disadvantages. Advatnages are: easier confirmation of identity. DIsadvantage: access to personal information. But, government already has some of this personal information available. Why do you always must suspect that someone will do something nasty? |

Message | We support - even though it is in a voluntary basis at least ID cards are issued Percival van Rustenburg Imperium Party Leader |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
