Bill: The Fair Adoption Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dranland First Party (CC)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2670

Description[?]:

We propose various reforms to our nation's adoption policy:

Article 1) We do not believe that adoption policy is a matter of national concern, and therefore, we believe it should be left to the discretion of local governments, in the interests of state's rights, and in order that the policy crafted will be representative of the different needs and views of local families and communities.

Article 2) We believe strongly that the best family environment, in which a child can be ensured a healthy upbringing, is the traditional, nuclear family unit. If a child is raised by a homosexual couple, they are unlikely to be instilled with the same wholesome values that they would have in a normal family, and are likely to, themselves, become homosexuals. It is also likely that they will be taunted for their unusual family situation, and severe emotional scarring may result. This is not a situation we would wish on any child.
As such, we propose that adoption be restricted to heterosexual couples only, to promote the traditional family unit.
The nuclear family is the cornerstone of our civil society, and should be preserved at all costs.

Message1 no, 2 might be acceptable if there is enough scientific evidence to suggest a thorough disconnect of parenting quality between heterosexual coupls, singles, homosexuals, and homosexual couples. We have not seen any evidence of the sort so we stand by the current legislation.

MessageWe agree with the reasons behind this proposal, but we do not agree with the proposal itself. The government is not the answer to any problems. And we have no reason to believe that there are any problems concerning these things in the first place.
