MessageAs before, the Minister of Finance has our full support.

We advise however that this bill not be brought to vote until there has been time to check with the rest of the coalition to ensure that there is consensus on this bill.

MessageI'm sorry but our MPs won't support this for the moment. BF supported the last budget.
We wish to stress that a budget is a government responsability. For the moment, we have no government. The coalition partners CCC is refering to, are not their coalition partners anymore. Since the previous elections, we don't have a government anymore. We tolerate the incumbent government to stay in office, but only to finish the matters in hand. And a budget is never considered as matters in hand. There is simply no legitimate ground for this proposal!

MessageI would suggest that your understanding is errorneous. The government remains in power until and unless an alternative government is approved by the Congress. The Congress may be dissolved for an election, but not the government.

MessageWell I deny that. If you were right, why don't we have the possibility of submitting a motion of no confidence? That's because the government loses automaticly it's power after an election. I didn't deny that it remains in office, but only to deal with the matters in hand.
The opposition here cannot force the government to resign, because the players of the governing parties usually don't recognize the motions that are passed by parliament.
You may give me one good reason why a government keeps its full powers after having lost the elections. That would be like a government that is helped up without the support of a majority in parliament.

MessageWe agree with the NDP's statement of the legal facts involved in a government.

BF is correct in that the current government is a minority government, and hence could be replaced at any time. It is therefore more of a caretaker than a director of policy. However, until the Congress approves a new government the existing government will continue to serve in that capacity.

Random fact: Don't vote yes on a cabinet coalition that doesn't give you the power that you deserve.
