Bill: Decriminalization of Victimless Crimes and Destroying Organized Crime Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Freedom and Revolution Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3059

Description[?]:

Does a man own his body? Is a man allowed to possess and use property, so long as it does not physically harm others?

According to this nation, man is but a slave to the whims of the State.

Drug use in and of itself harms no person unwillingly. Indeed, it is the very act of criminalization that promotes crime. After all, if a buyer cannot buy a product legally, then the buyer has nowhere to go should the seller wrong him. If the product is illegal, but there is a demand, then massive criminal networks are established in order to circumvent the law. These networks cannot be destroyed; they hide in the shadow and specialize in lawlessness. What creates them? Demand for a product, directly, and the State's choice to make such a good illegal, indirectly.

Rather than regulate and civilize the market by permitting drugs to be sold in a legal and just way, thus removing the ripe atmosphere for organized crime, these oppressive laws are passed with a deliberate blind eye to the consequences. These anti-drug laws not only directly infringe upon the rights of citizens by prohibiting the private use of body and money, but also create a subculture of crime and chaos. Even if one views drugs as an evil - and while we do not, we certainly respect such a viewpoint - one can only be deliberately obtuse or insane to argue that organized crime and widespread murder are indeed better than a man choosing to get high in his home a few times. Just because an act is legal does not mean it is endorsed. The immature and childish notion of "we do not like it, therefore we must ban it" must be put behind us.

As for prostitution, sex is a wonderful activity, full of sharing and pleasure for all involved. The idea that sex is "merely for procreation" is incredibly ignorant of basic biology; sex is for pleasure and sharing, and, like all goods, should be shared as much as reasonably possible. Furthermore, suppressing the market for sex creates the exact same organized crime problems that suppressing the market for drugs does, only instead of drug trafficking, it is human trafficking...in other words, slavery. By not allowing the market for sex to be legal, it does not allow for product monitoring and ethical behavior protection; instead, the banning creates human trafficking networks not suitable for civilized countries.

In summary, to protect the liberties of self, to rid ourselves of the uncivilized and absurd "victimless crimes," to stop treating our adult citizens as child criminals, and to remove the incentives for the development of organized crime, we must legalize these markets.

MessageMr Speaker,

While we applaud the fact that for once sane arguments were made for these policies, the CIL stands in firm opposition to all of them. As a Lutheran party, it is our belief that the government must uphold the social order which includes upholding a minimum standard of morality. In our view, all of the policies proposed by the FRP would be in breach of morality and therefore we cannot support them.

I yield.

MessageSpeaker,

We support article one completely, would prefer article two be naturally occuring but can lend support, and believe that article three can be discriminatory against women, and support article four. Obviously, adultery is wrong, however, there are exceptions. If one partner cheated or abused the other, and the divorce is drawn out, then another situation comes into play and we do not wish to judge.

And how DARE the CIL even THINK of claiming to uphold morality, and support forcing morality here, when they are pro-segregation and do not wish to enforce it THERE? Is that not a moral issue? See the double standard of enforcing morality here, but not there! People of Luthori, look upon the powers that be, the established order and gaze upon their hypocrisy!

I yield.

MessageThere shall be order in the Diet!

Mr Speaker,

The CIL promotes morality as it is interpreted by the Vicar of Christ, His Majesty the Emperor, Supreme Leader of the Church of Luthori and representative of God on Terra, whose opinion is absolute.

MessageSpeaker,

Your emperor is wrong and his opinion is not absolute. In fact, we believe that your emperor is a mere puppet of landed interests in Luthori, and the fact that he allows himself to be used like that shows that he is a moral coward. We call on your emperor to abdicate and institute a government for the people!

I yield.

The USC should be more cautious as it has just incriminated itself for treason.

MessageMr. Speaker,

As a compromise, we are willing to lessen the degree of articles two and three, and potentially remove article three entirely. However, if no compromise is possible, we will move this to a vote all the same.

To our colleagues at the CIL, you agree our arguments about organized crime are valid, and yet reject them in the name of social order? What could possibly be more disruptive to the social order than organized crime? Understand that it is not free societies that develop hardened criminals, but repressive ones. Just as natural selection creates toughened species' out of toughened conditions, so a similar process creates hardened criminals out of hardened conditions.

I yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

If the FRP is willing to compromise on other areas of policy, the League, encouraged by ts moderate OAP (Orangeist Action Party) wing, might reconsider this bill.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The Revolution Party will not commit to any broad, sweeping ideological or policy compromises; to do so would be to betray everything for which we stand, and would make us no better than the parasites currently in power. We will, however, always be open to compromise in dealing with specific bills on the table.

I yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

Being designated as "parasites" oddly makes the OAP reluctant to discuss compromises with the FRP.
