Bill: End Loophole in Food Labeling Laws

Details

Submitted by[?]: Independent Capitalist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2148

Description[?]:

Under the current system, companies are only required to label food and beverage products somewhere on the package. A loophole in this system has been found, however. The food labeling does not have to be located in an obvious place or in clear language. Therefore, someone could use completely scientific terms and take advantage of the average people or place the food labeling in a place where it is not obviously located. In addition, they could put it in a small, unreadable font.

This loophole could be exploited and used to take advantage of the average consumer. If the government made companies clearly labeled food and beverage products in a manner that can be easily understood, then this loophole will be prevented, however. Thus, this bill must be passed in order to ensure the safety of the consumers.

Random fact: Submitting a bill without any proposals in it will not attract or detract voters. It will not raise your visibility or change your political position.
