Bill: An Act for a New Badaran State

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Badara - Queranzist Brotherhood

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 3367

Description[?]:

So far the proposals for a new Badaran state have not been acceptable or successful. We propose this as the best option for a new Badaran nation.

The head of state will be opened to elections and serve as a largely symbolic and representative position. Most powers include the appointment of mayors, state visits, etc. Most power lays with the legislature and the cabinet, headed by the Premier.

We hope that this legislation can pass through parliament and bring about a new age in Badara.
Through this act our nation can achieve the much demanded elected HoS position and we can be better classified as a democratic state.

Upon the passage of this bill, the nation shall be officially titled as:

Democratic Socialist Republic of Badara

You attempt to undermine our State.

YOU WISH
To throw the glorious Royal Chairman, Jalal al-e-Ahmad, to the wolves.

HE IS ALREADY
A symbol. Now you want him to be irrelevant.

NO!
Never will we allow this treason.

MessageOOC: We aren't brothers. The Radical League is controlled by EEL, the former leader (co-leader?) of Zardugal. Remember, we fought them back in the Great Majatran War? The war your party fled to Kafuristan during, despite the fact that we were at war with Kafuristan? Anyway, the three newest parties are all former players from Al'Badara's past:

-The Radical League is the former Zardic New Democratic Party
-The Defenders is the former Al'Badaran House of Al-Majali (which became Socialist Bloc), co-founders of The Union of Socialist Sultanates from decades ago.
-United Badara is the former South-Kafuristani party, and our former nemesis during The Great Majatran War.

IT'S GOOD TO HAVE US ALL TOGETHER AGAIN, LIKE A BIG HAPPY FAMILY

Yes, this is modeled very much on how other nation's have handled demands for greater democracy while maintaining hereditary rulers. Such as in the monarchies of Terra were there is the King joined by an elected Governor-General.

OOC: And in the case of RL, its like Canada, well sorta. There's two HoS, the Queen and Governor-General. Though of course, Canada doesn't elect the Governor-General, only parliament.

MessageThe elected HoS will hold the limited powers there are in the HoS position (ie. mayor appointments, and whatever else the laws prescribe to the HoS).

Jalal is purely symbolic and ceremonial.

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections.
