This bill asks for the ratification of the http://classic.particracy.net/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=2602. If this treaty is ratified, it becomes binding and will define national law. Signatories of this treaty will cut all ties and direct trade with Lodamun and it's fellow signatories of the embargo on Solentia. All signatories of this treaty agree, henceforth until Lodamun has lifted its embargo, to: I) Ban the use of Lodamun currency within its borders and between other nations. II) Ban the importation of Lodamun and Lodamun sympathizers goods. III) Ban the exportation of goods to Lodamun and Lodamun sympathizers. The embargo will remain in place so long as Lodamun and dictatorial sympathizers continue with the embargo on Solentia. Message | We challenge the Guild once and for all to stand up against foreign oppressors and fight to end this spiteful embargo which is causing hardship to many hard working Solentian families. No doubt they will continue to indulge these despots, and ignore the plight of their fellow citizens. If the Guild does not support this treaty the Liberal Party will adopt a policy of complete and total non co-operation with the fat cats. |

Message | The Liberals know that the embargo is conditional. Liberals have full control of whether the embargo is in effect or not. -- Helen Harrison, Foreign Minister of Lodamun |

Message | This is obviously cheating. A treaty can only be ratified via the correct mechanism. This means a warning for the Democratic Party. |

Message | OOC: I will put a resolution before the House. The intension is a bill to approve the policy that is included in the treaty. We know this vote does not activate the treaty, but the policy would still be out into effect |

Message | OOC: This is basically a copy of the treaty. It was only done because you knew you didn't have the legislative support for a treaty. Why wasn't this done, at the start, instead of making a treaty? |

Message | OOC Of course it was done because the Guild didn't support the treaty. We would prefer a treaty, however the government are just using an alternative method to implement the policy. It has the same outcome |

Message | OOC: More like an attempt to god-mode. It's informally agreed that the treaty would be needed for the embargo thing to be valid (which is why you guys made the treaty in the first place). As soon as you realise you don't have the supermajority (and you admit that this was done because of that), you resort to this so that you don't have to meet that requirement. The wording of the bill itself is corrupt: "This bill asks for the RATIFICATION of the http://classic.particracy.net/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=2602. If THIS TREATY is ratified, it becomes BINDING AND DEFINES NATIONAL LAW. SIGNATORIES of THIS TREATY will cut all ties and direct trade with Lodamun and it's fellow signatories of the embargo on Solentia." This is cheating. All the countries, that signed the Embargo on Solentia, did it properly. They all had to have supermajority support for something as drastic as an embargo. You saw that as a fair requirement (if you didn't, you wouldn't make the treaty). |
