Mr. Speaker,

This budget INCREASES the size and scope of government. Remember, increased government spending crowds out private sector investment.

Aren't we currently running a deficit? The UNSC would much rather cut spending than raise taxes.

MessageMr. Speaker,

What is being proposed is to raise taxes across the board, and then to increase spending. There is no attempt to run a surplus.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This budget runs hand in hand with the tax proposal we are submitting. At the end of the day, the country will have a modest surplus if both are implemented. The fact of the matter is that under the current budget, our sharp decline in spending has had a ripple effect across the economy and our armed forces are severely underfunded. We ask that the Parliament consider a return to previous spending and taxation levels.
