Bill: Islamic dignity and freedom

Details

Submitted by[?]: Union of Progressive Ulama

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2174

Description[?]:

In the name of God, the compassionate, the merciful:

Mosques (as well as churches and synagogues and Asli temples) are not for-profit corporations. Observant Muslims are required to pay the zakat to their mosque, and many Christians must also tithe. It is not fair that these donations to religions are taxed.

All recognized religions are required to be non-profit in nature by this bill. In return, they will not be taxed, and their work as charitable organizations recognized.

Recognized religions are:
Islam (the state religion)
The other people of the book (Christianity and Judaism)
Indigenous nature beliefs as practiced by the Asli people
Any other faith indigenous to Majatra, when approved by the foreign ministry

MessageTrue. The bill is designed to ensure that no donations to religion are taxed.

MessageNo donations are taxed anyways. Everything is taxed and donations are write offs. The law should stay as it is. Religions aren't here to make profit (which IS taxed), but instaed to enlighten.

MessageWell, we'll have to agree to disagree then. The current law is we feel an infringement on the independence of religions.

Random fact: Real-life organisations should not be referenced in Particracy, unless they are simple and generic (eg. "National Organisation for Women" is allowed).
