Bill: Opposition Cabinet Proposal of January 3992

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Progressive Union

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3992

Description[?]:

This bill proposes an alternative to the Democratic Party (DP) led government. Instead, this proposal gives three positions to the NDP, Libertarian Party and Royalist Party, and two positions each to the Federalist Party and the Liberal Party, to ensure that the DP does not again take over Hutorian politics.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We are not going to sit back and take minuscule positions in cabinet any longer. We shall oppose.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We understand the Libertarian Party's dismay however, the only other cabinet proposed does not include them at all. So how does the Libertarian Party wish to move forward?

The Royalists won't support this proposal either. Our three Cabinet positions we have little interest and it is apparent the National Democratic Party merely gave us three positions to fill out the Cabinet instead of seeking any imput from our Party on which positions we would be. If this is the sort of treatment we can expect from the NDP in future we will have no interest in forming cabinet with them.

Senator Garret Walker
Royalist Senate Leader

OOC: The Royalists are going to be taking a massive harder and adamant turn towards the Monarchy this cycle.

MessageMr. Speaker,

As the DP's proposal was put to vote immediately after the election cycle, we had no choice but to propose an alternative without any input before the original proposal could be passed. As such, we were not able to perfectly capture the desires of each party and tried our best to make do with the time we had. That being said, we are open to any insight.

I would like to ask the Libertarian Party to name their price: we can offer the Science and Technology position in addition to either Head of Government or Foreign Affairs. The NDP will gladly take one and only one position in this Cabinet if it keeps our country unified.

To the Royalist Party, you are forgetting decades of history in which the NDP has worked with the Royalists in order to keep the country going in a positive direction. State which positions you want, and we will work with the other parties involved to secure them for you. It was my father's decision to ask Leah Ross to remain Prime Minister during the first few years of the Republic, and I would be doing a disservice to my country if I did not seek to look across the aisle to those with differing opinions in the present day.

Sir Samuel Williams
Chair of the NDP
Former President of the Federal Republic of Hutori

Random fact: When forming a cabinet, try to include as few parties as possible, while still obtaining a majority of the seats.
