Bill: Animal Mistreatment Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Potensian People's Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4152

Description[?]:

"The capturing and exportation of exotic animals is extremely traumatic for the animals concerned. Furthermore, that bears used to freezing climates, for example, may be kept in zoos in Potensi's hot climate is simply wrong and this practice must be ended. Furthermore, the PPP also believes that hunting and killing animals in the name of "sport" must be outlawed. The best way to enjoy animals is by observing them in their natural habitats - not by chasing and killing them."

- Reena N. Panwar, Minister for Environment and Tourism

MessageMr. Speaker,

We would support looking at these laws again to see if they should be tightened, but we are opposed to going as far as what is proposed here. A complete ban on keeping exotic animals and on hunting and fishing would be inappropriate, and also impractical and unenforceable.

Chairman of the Potensian National Congress
