Message | "Mr Speaker, It should never be the responsibility of the state to take the life of an individual for two reasons. Firstly, someone who has committed the exact same crime, but hasn't had the definite evidence to prove that they have committed the crime, could be sentenedvto death. Should someone be incorrectly convicted of that crime, they could lose their life for something they never did. Secondly, would it not be a harsher punishment to have to live with consequences of your actions? Contrary to popular belief, keeping them in jail for life would be a very minor expense. If you care about true justice, vote AGAINST the Death Penalty Act." - Gregory Tristan (HSP-LA) |
