Description[?]:

Repeal of the "Decleration [sic] Of Augustan As Official Language of Cobura" and National Language Diversity Act of 4173

Senators,

We hereby present this bill in order to restore the spirit of multiculturalism that has made Cobura the great country it is.

Part I
Upon passage of this bill the 4157 declaration of Augustan as the official language of Cobura is hereby repealed. (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=502725)

Part II
The national languages of Cobura shall be Augustan, Irkawan, Mallan, Tokundian, and Majatran. The government shall print all documents in Augustan, Irkawan, Mallan, and translations into the Tokundian and Majatran languages shall be available on the internet.

Part III
The regional governments of Egato, Irkawa, and Domale shall use their regional languages (Augustan/Egato; Irkawan/Irkawa; Mallan/Domale) to conduct their affairs. Tokundi and Dilganato may either conduct their affairs in their regional languages (Tokundian/Tokundi; Majatran/Dilganato), or in Irkawan or Augustan.

Part IV
The regions may allow primary and secondary instruction to take place in their regional languages. It is mandated as educational policy that all students eventually learn Augustan or Irkawan.

Part V
In large part this bill should be considered a restoration of the status quo before the Augustan/Egelion nationalists overthrew the monarchy.

Message"To set things straight: We made Augustan the official language because it is very easy to learn for students and foreigners. It gives learners the ability to fluently communicate with other Augustan speakers within 4 months! We have no supremacist feelings or thoughts about Augustans and believe in equality, something the Arkhean front, which wants to restore a Irkawan-supremacist dictatorship with the false claim that more than half of the population has their backs, does not believe in. Multiculturality indeed is a great thing, it enriches the knowledge about other cultures and traditions, and the Demokrata Unio most cerntainly acknowledges and encourages that.

However, we still believe it is in the best interest of our our nation to promote Augustan as a bridge language. Not because we are, according to the AF, Augustan supremacist, but because it is practically the most easy solution to the problem of misunderstanding between ethnicities due to language barriers. Think by yourself: would you rather spend years learning a very difficult language with a different alphabet and realising after two years you are still not able to speak it fluently, or would you rather learn an easier bridge language that makes you able to understand your fellow Coburans and builds a bridge between ethnicities and language group?

Of course it is good to offer several other languages to students, but it is morally wrong to set one language away as a supremacist, antagonistic language. That is what the AF has been doing since they came back here, but their claims are wrong within their cores and should be ignored.

We are for a Cobura for everyone, not just Augustans, Irkawans, Mallans or any other enthnicites. We believe every human is special and beautiful in its own way, regardless of ethnicity, language, looks or religion.

Thank you."

Sen. Leon Filayamo, former minister of Foreign Affairs and Human rights actvist.
