MessageM. Modérateur,
Honourable Members of l'Assemblée Nationale,

The government's role is to ensure the welfare of its citizens, not control the market. It should not have such an overruling presence within Lourenne's economy, and this bill will strive to alter this, for the greater good of the Lourennian workers, the Lourennian people, and the Lourennian free market.

This bill's purpose is to detract government intervention within the economy. The PCL wishes to assert the fact that it does not damage workers rights as it does not give a mandate to companies to restrict their rights in pursuit of profit. All it does is provide companies and workers a competitive, and fair playing field, where both are given choice, and freedom over work pay, and work hours.

I will now underline the fundamental reasons to why it is imperative for this bill to passed through the house, by your Honourable Members, for the sake of Lourenne:

The PCL is of the belief that the government, not only has no right, but also has no need, to get involved in work hours. If workers dislike the working conditions within a particular company, then they have the right and the ability to move a rival firm which offers better conditions and pay. You may argue that the less-skilled may then be forced to move to that original company. However, in order to compete with its competitors, it too will have no choice but to improve working conditions, in order to persuade labourers to work for them. It is quite clear that, should the government allow the market to take its course, we would not have any issues regarding unfair working hours.

Gambling is something that the PCL disapproves of, but as the other parties have made clear on countless occasions, we should restrict the choice of the people. Current legislation does just that, and we find the need to change it fundamentally crucial to the progress of not just economic freedoms, but also political freedoms.

Regarding the formation of Democratic Workers' Councils (DWCs), the PCL views the current legislation as a dark reminder of Lourenne's socialist past. The fact is that, whilst we shall not prevent DWCs from existing, the government should not have inherent right to favour companies who have this socialistic system in place. All it does is prevent competition within the market. As I mentioned before, whilst the PCL looks upon these councils in disdain, we have no current plans to outlaw them. However, we believe it must be a priority that, for a true Free Market, the government cannot give support to companies that contain DWCs and reject others.

The simple matter is that, should we impose a salary cap, our brightest minds will simply move to nations that can pay them more money. This is not only harmful for our economy, but for Lourenne's development. Without the aid of our great minds, we cannot progress as a nation. It is in the PCL's mind that a vote against this bill, is a vote against the development and progression of Lourennais.

The PCL have outlined changes that we believe must be done in order to create a fairer, more competitive society for both the worker and the employer. It is a real stain on this nation that we have a government who is willing to restrict the rights of workers and employers across Lourenne. This cannot be allowed to happen, and it is therefore crucial that the house passes through this legislation.

We therefore beg the Honourable Members to support this proposition, and give their support to the altering of legislation with Lourenne.

MessageM. Modérateur, Honoured members of the Assemblée Nationale,

With all the respect, M. Lambert, I think you miss the point of these articles. The government is taking care of the citizens by making sure they don't work to long and that the position of the workers is protected by Democratic Workers Councils. It is not a way of controlling the market, but those are measures to make sure the working conditions of the labourers is good-excellent.

We thank the Modérateur and all members of the Assemblée Nationale,

Blaise Marquis

MessageHonoured members of the Assemblée Nationale,

This issue has already been under a vote recently, as the Union Power Act:
http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=515239

This proposal from the PCL is a real danger to the position of workers in the market. The PCL wants to give coorporations full control of work contracts, which can lead to the exhaustion of employees' contracts. The AVL firmly opposes this bill and is not going to change its stance on this, despite the impressivly long speech delivered by mr. Lambert.

Thank you,
-Alec Durante, AVL party leader

MessageM. Modérateur,
Honourable Members of l'Assemblée Nationale,

The Honourable Members fail to understand the way in which a competitive labour market works. Should a company not offer satisfactory job quality, the employee should change jobs to find a company that gives him or her more appropriate work conditions. As a result, the company loses money because people do not want to work for it, and its productivity decreases. The only way it is able to adjust this is by creating better working conditions to compete with its rivals.

The whole point of the Government is to deal with the individual cases where the employer does exploit the employee. We are the first to admit that even the free-market has some drawbacks, and from time to time, there will be cases that slip through the general growth you see within a capitalist society. This is where the government gets involved, in order to protect the welfare of its citizens. However this should only be done on a case-by-case basis.

I'm afraid that it is indeed the parties who fail to grasp the concept of this bill, by not realising that this bill will in reality: Not give corporations the ability to overwork workers; Not effect any workers' working standards; Will give a freer, more competitive free market.

We beg of the other parties again to rethink their position, and vote in conjuncture with the PCL.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
