Bill: 12/4204 Creation of the National Public Broadcast of Lourenne (NPBL)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Parti Démocratique National Lourennais

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 4205

Description[?]:

Honoured members of the Assemblée Nationale,

We think it is most essential to have a national broadcast company, to make sure all inhabitants will be informed if any national disaster has happened. Furthermore, the NPBL will be used for journal broadcasts and some entertaining programs.
''Come on, it is ridiculous to stream the news about a national disaster on a entertainment channel?! Imagine there's a emergency news broadcast about a terrorist attack, which has to interrupt the final episode of ''Love in Lourenne''? or that the emergency news broadcast will continue after Sascha has finally broke up with Donovan in the first episode of a new season of Criminal Masterpieces'?'

We thank the Assemblée Nationale for their time and attention.

Thomas Le Favre
Professor Media and Communication at the Université de Thiers-Noel / Press Secretary of the PDNL

MessageM. Modérateur,

We would say to the passionate speech laid out by M. Le Favre that nothing should get in the way of us and our episode of Criminal Masterpieces. The thrilling ups and downs in Donovan's and Sascha's relationship really keep us on the edge of our seat, sending us on a rollercoaster of emotions - from those of utter jubliation, to those of the most deepest regrets.

There is of course a serious point to this. Should a terrorist attack occur, why should we give it the attention that the terrorists want us to have. Whilst, undoubtedly, we should mourn for the dead, to disrupt our daily lives - including the television schedule - to broadcast it just shows Lourenne's defeat to these vile people.

On a practical note, the economic repercussions of this bill would be ones seen echoing on and on, further and further into the taxpayer's pocket. Let's put ourselves in the shoes of the taxpayer. What would I rather? Pay for television which is at a competitive price, due to the many independent organisations within the market. Or pay through the nose - out of a hard-earned income - for a national TV service that shows the same things anyway. At the end of the day, it's a no-brainer.

We hope to have persuaded the Honourable Members to supply a "No" vote. For the sake of the Lourennian taxpayer - and of course Criminal Masterpieces.

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically

Random quote: "A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof. And when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven." - Jean Chretien (describing the level of proof about weapons of mass destruction that Canada required to join the Iraq War)
