Description[?]:

To the I'Assemblée Nationale,

The Lourenne Ligue Patriotique (LPP) is but a feeble and new party. We keep humble of our policies and know that this delegation might not approve of the far right nationalist views we might propose. Knowing this, we would like to propose a policy that we have advocated for in hopes to promoting our policies not only to government, but to the people who consume foreign products.

This is not a total ban on trade, but a proposal to influence more regulation in trade from foreign countries. This policy will still allow for foreign trade, but will impose tariffs and quotas to ensure that the protection of producers, businesses, and workers of the import-competing sector are promised and ordained.

This also promotes economic independence, which can lead to explosive, non-linear economic growth through technological gains over time. We wish for our economy to expand domestic production which can increase knowledge-generating industries and an exposure to discoveries.

Not only will this proposal make us economically independent, but this will also make us politically independent. If we rely on foreign help, then we must also rely on their interest. This is particularly true for commodities like food, oil, or military equipment. We are aware that the lack of free trade would be insufficient for a large scale-conflict which is why we propose allowing imports, while regulating it.

In conclusion, what the LLP wishes for Lourenne is to be more economically and politically independent through regulation of trade while still allowing for imports. This is to protect not only our government, but our people.

MessageHonourable Members of I'Assemblée Nationale,

We welcome the LLP to Lourenne and are delighted to see another right-wing party within this country. The PCL are sure that we can work together in the future for the betterment of Lourenne.

Having said that, this policy would not improve our economy as you may suggest. Whilst you are absolutely correct that our country should maintain a level of appropriate protectionism, this should not hinder the free market, and our economy. The PCL's core belief is non-government intervention - and we feel that this is a violation of that. Should the market be allowed to take its course, we will see more prosperous companies and more prosperous citizens.

You are argue that a free trade may make us more dependent on other nations. However, I am proud to say that Lourenne, and particularly our Président, M. Bourgeois, has played a significant part in the formation of Dovanic Union. Indeed, it would be only true to say that within Dovani, Lourenne is undoubtedly one of strongest economies and nations.

We will excuse you of not knowing this prior to your proposal due to your newcoming, yet it is because of this, that we can happily say that the free market will not put us at risk of losing our economic nor our political independence, and therefore, there is no need to pass this bill.

We thank the Honourable Members for listening, and wish the LLP a very long and prosperous time within this House.

M. Jean Appel
Ministre Exécutif du Commerce et de l'Industrie
