Voting deadline: January 4223
Description[?]:
The goal of this bill is to reform the current system for immigration to better align with the nation's needs and social views. First, we will establish a new system for admitting immigrants. Currently the system takes immigrants based on quotas from specific countries, which could easily be manipulated into racism. The proposed system would take immigrants based on quotas of skill level, allowing us to increase highly-skilled workers, stimulating the economy in this time of turbulence. Second, we will reform the process regarding illegal alien seizures and deportations. Currently, the law leaves this decision to local governments, but we seek to nationally decriminalize illegal alien status. If an illegal alien is sent, they will be kept in the country and sent to an integration facility to help them adapt to the new country and legally stay. Third, we will reform the process by which immigrants can become citizens. Currently, citizenship can only be attained by being born to nationals. We would like immigrants to be granted citizenship if they pass a citizenship test, allowing those who immigrate during their lifetime to reach that status. |
