What are the thoughts of this House? I think Kalopia will make an excellent friend.

Under Luthori law, arms are exported freely anyway.

MessageMr Speaker,

But the exporting of arms is an internal issue that a foreign treaty should not dictate.

MessageWe are exporting arms to your nation as well, Madam Rees. Are you asking us to cut off the arms trade with your nation?

At what point did I say or even hint at this? I ask the minister to bring forward proof of his accusation.

MessageMr Speaker,

This Treaty would authorise arms sales to Kalopia, if at any stage the House wished to cease sales, it could change the law and withdraw from the Treaty. Exporting of arms and arms deals are often handled via treaty.

MessageMr Speaker,

If we wish to end arms sales we should require a 50% majority. We will not support 75% of representatives having to vote in favour to end arms sales.

MessageMr Speaker,

Treaty withdrawals are simple majorities. Only ratifications require 2/3rds

MessageMr Speaker,

But the treaty would need to be canceled before arms sales could stop otherwise a 75% majority is required.

MessageMr Speaker,

I am confused as to the argument? If the House wants to cease sales, we can cancel the treaty with a majority and the Government can stop arms sales. 75% does not come into it at all. A treaty allowing arms sales is not uncommon, and the question is do we agree to sell to Kalopia, I would say yes.

MessageBesides, Kalopia is one of the arms capitals of the world; Luthori engaging themselves in the Kalopian arms market would be very lucrative in consideration of the rise of Luthori's economy if they did join in. Besides, Madam Rees, Jakania and Cobura have both agreed fully to engage in the arms trade with our nation. Why does your party outright refuse to support arms trade with Kalopia? Mr. Dorvikios wonders why.

MessageMr Speaker,

I am not against the arms trade between us and Kalopia. As I have been trying to say throughout the debate it is an issue of democracy. If a party strongly opposed arms sales to foreign nations this whole treaty would need to be revoked before our policy on arms could be changed.
