MessageMr. Speaker,

Why do we want people to buy less things? That is what we are doing when we tax luxury goods. It damages our economy and serves no interest in our society save government's greedy hands. I ptopose we eliminate it entirely.
Thank you, mr. Speaker

MessageMr Speaker,

While the Conservative Party is very much in favour of tax reduction, we cannot support this bill.

At the moment, government revenue is approximately 535.75 Billion Lira, and the Luxury Goods Tax accounts for approximately 297.98 Billion Lira of that. By eliminating this tax completely, we leave ourselves with just 277.37 Billion Lira in revenue.

The current budget allocates 514.055 Billion Lira in spending. By eliminating this tax, we leave ourselves with a deficit of approximately 236.685 Billion Lira. While we are all for reducing government spending, we cannot just cut 237 Billion Lira from our budget and expect the departments to function as normal.

The Aristocracy Party has made it clear that they only care about the richest Hutorians, but surely they must realize that running massive deficits or making extreme cuts to the services Hutorians need is reckless and detrimental to our nation do they not?

MessageMr. Speaker,

While we appreciate the member-opposite reminding the House of our stated goals and platform as the Aristocracy party, the hateful rhetoric aimed at our most beloved elite is, in my opinion, most un-parliamentary. Further, through you Mr. Speaker, I view the member-opposite's stated reasoning completely unsatisfactory. The member-opposite openly admits of the over-bloated expenditures of the state, yet wishes to burden our most beloved elite with the fiscally irresponsible decisions of the past by continuing to put a tax on fine wares!

However, in the spirit of bi-partisanship Mr. Speaker, I will state my intention to table an amendment that will see a modest 25% decrease in the Luxury sales tax, instead of eliminating it in its entirety. I look forward to working with my colleague in the Conservative party.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker

MessageMr Speaker,

The Leader of the Aristocracy Party just doesn't get it. We need to reduce government spending, we are not arguing the opposite. But what HE doesn't understand is, we cannot just drastically cut our budget and expect our departments to function as usual.

If the member opposite was to propose a well thought out tax plan and budget that reduces the LGT and makes modest, responsible cuts to the budget, we would support it 100%.
